Borrago is named after the Latin classification for the Borage flower. It is a small, pretty, edible flower and it embodies everything we stand for. It is colourful, with its bright purply flowers (our brand colour), it is natural, delicious (it has a cucumber flavour and you can eat the whole plant in various ways) and is easy for anyone to grow, so very inclusive. It always reminds us of celebration as it pops up in the summer when the sun is out and you pop it into drinks to make them super special.
Our Paloma blend is made from six botanicals (Cardamom, Lemon Verbena, Basil, Rosemary, Peppermint and Lemongrass) each individually steam distilled and processed, then blended together. We don’t use alcohol at any stage of our process, so it has a 0.0% alcohol trace and this has allowed us to apply for our Halal accreditation. We don’t try to mimic other drinks, instead we have built Borrago from the ground up to give a drink like no other. We call it a spirit as you use it in the same way as a quality gin or vodka as a base for exceptional cocktails, but without the alcohol.
It is aromatic and punchy, a drink designed to be mixed and not drunk straight.
Deliciously dry, with sweet floral notes on the nose, a layered, textured middle and a long finish. On the palate it is big and chewy, a drink to be savoured.
So while we don’t take ourselves too seriously, we take what we do very seriously and everything links back into our five core values.
